Liz Gladwin (she/her) has experience in couples therapy and individual therapy working in community LGBTQIA+ organisations and public hospitals like the Peter MacCallum The service welcomes individuals and couples who are looking to build a deeper understanding of their relationships and mental health. Liz is also an approved supervisor for the psychology board, specializing in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
"The quality of your life ultimately rests on the quality of your relationships" - Esther Perel.
Liz supports individuals and couples as they securely manage change and work towards self-assurance and meaning. She provides individual therapy sessions for adults from a range of backgrounds and with diverse expressions of gender and sexuality. In couples therapy, partners explore intimacy, navigate breaches of trust, and rebuild connection through mutual understanding. Liz strives to create a space where people feel safe enough to take emotional risks and discuss practical steps that might bring about a sense of control.
Her treatment approach combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic (attachment theory) to delve into the forces that shape us.
Psychological services for individuals, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, can be claimed through Medicare. With a mental health care plan from your GP, you will be able to obtain a rebate to help with part of the cost of your first ten psychology sessions each year. Couples therapy is not currently covered by Medicare but, your private health insurance may provide a partial rebate if psychology services are included in your coverage.
I blend evidence-based and insight-driven models to support couples in building stronger, more resilient relationships. Drawing from the Gottman Method, I help partners deepen friendship, navigate conflict with care, and create shared meaning. With inspiration from Esther Perel, I honour the balance between intimacy and autonomy, helping couples reconnect with desire and embrace the complexities of long-term love. I also integrate Dan Savage’s practical, sex-positive perspective—especially helpful for modern, LGBTQIA+, and non-traditional relationships. Together, these approaches create a flexible, compassionate framework—rooted in science, alive with humanity, and tailored to your unique relationship.
